Overview
An audio source can be connected to the Keemotion Server through USB for the purpose of adding commentary to the video production.
Once connected to the server, it is up to the end user to setup the correct audio levels for their production. Depending on the mixer hardware used, there can be one or many channels allowing from a single to many commentators (example play-by-play and color).
The Keemotion system will then utilize this new audio source as an additional channel to the production which includes by default the ambient sound from the Keemotion system’s microphone. Sound levels between these two main channels can be configured in MyArena - either set as a default in the stream configuration of the particular league or adjusted live while a recording is happening.
What is the distance between the commentators and the server?
Up to 5 metres
The mixer should be directly connected to the server via a USB cable.
For driver compatibility only certain USB devices are supported. The supported devices are:
For up to two commentators:
For up to four commentators:
Other/Unsupported Mixers:
Other unsupported mixers or mixers without USB outputs may be used, but they will require the use of USB audio interface.
The only supported interface is:
The mixer would then be plugged into Mic/Line 1 of the UM2 and then the UM2 would be plugged into the server via USB.
Greater than 5 metres
The location where the mixer is located and the location where the server is located should be cabled together with a good quality microphone cable (2 conductors + shield), to a maximum distance of 100 metres. Each end should be terminated with a wall socket. A 3 pin XLR female socket at the commentator end and a 3 pin XLR male socket at the server end. (Pin 1 Shield/Gnd, Pin 2 Hot/Red, Pin 3 Cold/White)
The server would then need an XLR to USB interface. The only currently supported interface is:
XLR to 3.5mm Jack adapters should NEVER be used.
For the commentator end any mixer with XLR inputs should be sufficient (USB functionality is not required), however we would recommend the following.
For up to two commentators:
For up to four commentators:
The output of the mixer should then be connected to a Direct Injection box with a ¼” (6.25mm) mono jack to jack patch lead. Most DI Boxes will work, but we recommend
Behringer DI400P Ultra-DI Passive Direct Injection Box
Between the wall socket and the UM2 and the wall socket and the DI Box you will need 3pin XLR M-F patch cables.
Headsets
Unless connected directly to the server, headsets should work without issues with an audio mixer. 1 is required per commentator.
Headset Sennheiser HMD 26-600-II-XQ (high end)
Senal SMH-1010CH Single-Sided Communication Headset
Headphone Amplifier
This item is optional but recommended. It is used so that the speaker can hear himself speak with direct line feedback.
Ambient Microphones
These are optional and only applicable if extra court sound locations are required and if
there are enough extra channels in the audio mixer.
Ambient sound Mics (optional - for extra ambient/court sounds)
Cables
